Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Rocco's in Belltown

For huge pizza slices and craft cocktails, check out Rocco's in the heart of Belltown. I recommend making a reservation like I did, since capacity for tables in Seattle is still at 50%. Rocco's is a dark, hip, date night kind of spot. They have a nice variety of starters and salads to pair with your pizza. And the first thing you see when you enter is the long wall of liquors to choose from. The servers are well versed with the menu and kindly offered suggestions about the cocktails and pizza. The pizzas are giant here, 20 inches. But you can order a half pizza and that gets you four large slices. If you're not super hungry, but want to conquer your pizza cravings, you can get a slice.

We started with some craft cocktails to sip on. I ordered an Isle of Man, which is their version of a Sidecar. My husband had a Manhattan and for a second round, I drank a Mai Tai. Our sons shared a slice of Cheese Pizza and some Garlic Cheese Bread. I ordered a slice of Pepperoni and my husband got a half pizza with pineapple and mushrooms. I would describe Rocco's style of pizza to be hand tossed. It wasn't too thin, like New York Style, like I was expecting.

My pepperoni slice was really greasy and I had to blot it with a napkin. The slice was giant, so one piece for me was plenty of food. I did sneak a couple bites of my husband's pizza, too. It was really great pie, especially since the mushrooms were good quality and I do love pineapple. The Garlic Cheese Bread was really, really cheesy and it came with a big bowl of marinara and even some pesto. For dessert, the four of us shared some creamy Flan. If you are a pizza fan and love trying unique cocktails, I would recommend checking this spot out.
