Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Luck of the Irish | Trying some St. Paddy's Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme

No Irish luck was needed to score these adorable and festive Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme!

When I saw Krispy Kreme's newest seasonal doughnuts, I knew I needed to buy some. I knew they would sell out fast though, especially the Lucky Unicorn ones. So I decided to just order a box and have them delivered. I set the delivery time to after school when my boys would be done with remote learning for the day. This way they could have a sweet end to the day. School at home hasn't been a walk in the park, so treating ourselves from time to time is the ticket. The unicorn doughnut was way cute and I couldn't wait to try it.

The four St. Patrick's Day doughnuts are the Lucky Unicorn, Lucky Sprinkles, Lucky Gold Coins, and Lucky Leprechaun. The flavors taste like the Original Glazed but with a lot of green and white frosting. The Leprechaun one has a chocolate filling, which we really enjoyed. The doughnuts from Krispy Kreme are sugar bombs. Not everyone loves them because of how sweet they are. My sons and I like sweets, so we are always down for Krispy Kreme. And I like how good of a job they do with their seasonal kinds.
