Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Care Pack Delivery from Sweet Nothings and More

A Key Lime Brioche with Toasted Meringue from Sweet Nothings and More.

What's better than a box of pastries delivered to your door on a Sunday morning? I can't think of anything! A new pastry business called Sweet Nothings and More is in Seattle. They don't have a storefront, but they do pop-ups and delivery on the weekends. The items change every week, so following them on IG isn't the worst idea. Their pastries are really unique, meaning yummy desserts I've never seen before.

They make croissants and they do a darn good job. Making croissants is a 3 day process and you've gotta respect that. They are truly an art form. I love seeing all of those beautiful layers of pastry when I tear one open. For this weekend's Care Pack delivery that I got, there were five items. I received a Glazed Croissant, which is kind of like a glazed doughnut, but better. There was also a Twice Baked Artichoke Dip Croissant. They made this one for this weekend because of the Super Bowl! A perfect savory item to enjoy with the game. Then there was a Chocolate Chip Muffin and an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie with White Chocolate. Finally, my favorite was a Key Lime Brioche with Toasted Meringue.

I chose Sunday for my delivery and they dropped it off by my door for contact-less delivery. Then they texted after they dropped it off. It was really easy to order my box of pastries on their website. This was a really fun and delicious way to support a local business without even leaving my house.
