Dinner at Casco Antiguo SLU

Another outdoor spot my family and I dined at was Casco Antiguo in South Lake Union. We ate at their Pioneer Square spot last year and you can see that post here. Casco Antiguo serves authentic Mexican food and cocktails. They have a nice heated and covered dining area that looked too fun and cozy to pass up.

They have additional seating next to the covered part, but its not heated. When we arrived there was seating available there, but we chose to wait for a table in the warm covered area. We ended up waiting for about twenty minutes and we were pretty chilly waiting outside. But it was worth it when we were seated and we warmed up pretty quickly.

That may or may not have been from the Tequila and spicy salsa, but whatever does the trick to get warmer. I had a Grantiguo which is like a Cadillac Margarita and has orange liqueur. My husband had an Evil Willy which had aperol and fresh citrus.

I wanted to visit this restaurant because I saw they had a Birria Quesadilla. I've been wanting to try this dish ever since I had the Birria Tacos at Taco City and loved them. The Quesadilla ended up having the same mouthwatering flavor as the tacos. It didn't come with a dipping sauce like the one served with the tacos. But there was sour cream, guacamole, and a tomato and corn salad. The beef was so tender and the tortilla was really crispy. My husband had the Carne Asada Tacos. He ordered them Alambre Style, so the Carne Asada came in a bowl with rice. Our boys went to town on some tortilla chips and rice.

We were impressed with the quality of the food and craft cocktails. The servers are also really friendly and accommodating. For some reason when I dine in downtown Seattle, this is usually the case. There are so many great places to dine in Seattle and a lot of them are offering heated, outdoor dining. This way we can feel safe and still have a fun time and keep on supporting our local businesses.
