Two foodie destinations in Columbia Falls, MT
Cheers! A Grey Goose Cosmo from Gunsight Saloon on Nucleus Ave. |
Every time we visit Columbia Falls, MT, there's new businesses to check out. On this visit my husband and I were able to go out a few times on our own while my folks watched our boys. We checked out two new places in Columbia Falls.
Uptown Hearth
One afternoon, he and I visited a new bakery in town, located on Nucleus Ave. Uptown Hearth serves breakfast items, coffee, and pastries. Right now, they're just using their walk-up window. But they have a nice sized outdoor area with lots of seating. We shared a Brioche Donut filled with chocolate cream. It was a big donut, but on the pricey side at over four bucks. The quality of the donut was killer though, and was as soft as a cloud. It was coated in cinnamon and sugar, too. The chocolate filling was yummy and rich. This spot seems like the place to treat yourself and catch up with a friend at one of the outdoor tables.
Gunsight Saloon
One night for dinner, my parents and our boys had hot dogs at home while my husband and I checked out Gunsight Saloon. They are located on Nucleus Ave, across the street from Uptown Hearth. They have live music every night at 6. Gunsight has a huge outdoor dining area with picnic tables, a bar, and a large stage for the live music. Inside, there's another bar and an area for dining. You order your food at the counter, then you can pick a table, either inside or out.
After ordering food, we headed to the bar and started a tab. To eat, we chose the Spinach Caprese and the Philly Cheesesteak and shared both. For our cocktails, I had a Queen of the West which had Spotted Bear Gin, aperol, grapefruit and lemon juice, honey, and a thyme garnish. My husband had their Old Fashioned On Tap. It had Willie's Big Horn Bourbon, house-made Oleo, Daughter of the Sun Brandy, and Angostura Bitters. Our salad was really fresh, wholesome, and had a nice amount of mozzarella to keep me happy. The sandwich was huge and one half was the perfect amount. It packed some heat from the pepperoncini's and had a good amount of shaved prime rib. The drinks were really decent and packed a punch.
We decided to order another round of drinks at the bar and take them outside to enjoy the live music. The evening was hot and sunny and my Grey Goose Cosmo was really tart and refreshing. The band started up and we had an awesome hanging out!
