Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A visit to Glacier National Park | Summer 2020

For me a visit to the Flathead Valley area of MT isn't complete until I visit Glacier National Park. This time we checked out the Hungry Horse Dam, took some photos of Lion Lake near the dam, and went to Apgar inside the park. Apgar is the area next to Lake McDonald in Glacier. We had a picnic near the lake, and then for dessert we grabbed an ice cream cone at Eddie's Grocery and Cafe. I enjoyed a Huckleberry ice cream in a waffle cone and it was fabulous.

Everything at Glacier was gorgeous and I was lucky to get some good scenic shots. I was happy with the lighting at Hungry Horse Dam. My dad took my sons and I one evening after dinner. My son is really into structures and was super excited to see the dam. Last time he saw it, he was only three and not as interested. My sons had a blast at Lake McDonald, since skipping rocks, or trying to skip rocks, is one of their favorite pastimes.

Hungry Horse Dam in the evening.

Lion Lake.

Another shot of Lion Lake, but with a red canoe! I like the reflections from the trees and the canoe.

A swimmer, enjoying herself at Lake McDonald.

The iconic view of Lake McDonald. This time, I wanted to get a shot of the rocks under the water. Can you see how clear the water is?

A family having a blast playing on their huge unicorn floater. How fun!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Two years ago on my last visit, I promised myself I'd come to Eddie's and try one of their Huckleberry cones. I'm so glad I did. It was worth the wait!
