Breakfast and Brunch Ideas
Breakfast and Brunch are an important time of the day. And sometimes, carbs are a great way to fuel up and indulge a little. Pancakes, waffles, and French Toast are the perfect way to start celebrating a special day.
For Father's Day I made Buttermilk Pancakes with chocolate sprinkles. This is my dad's pancake recipe, so I thought it would be special to whip these up. The recipe is from Betty Crocker. These were the pancakes he always made when I was growing up. He'd even make them when we went camping. And he loves making them for my boys when we visit him in Montana.
Buttermilk Pancakes
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
2 T. oil
1 T sugar
1 cup flour
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
Directions:
Beat egg; add buttermilk and oil. Add dry ingredients. Beat until smooth. Spoon batter onto a hot griddle. Turn pancakes as soon as they are puffed and full of bubbles. Bake other side until golden brown.
I added chocolate sprinkles to my batter before I cooked them. Then I added some powdered sugar, butter, and syrup!
Another great way to eat pancakes are Funfetti Pancakes! At the store I came across a box of Funfetti Pancake mix from Pillsbury. These were some fun and colorful pancakes we had last month.
Homemade waffles are fun to make using a waffle maker if you have one. I also like to make sauces for my waffle toppings. Here you'll find the recipe I used for a strawberry sauce from Sally's Baking Addiction. I just used the waffle recipe that came with my waffle maker. You can find waffle recipes online easily.
