Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Jade Garden Restaurant

It's been rainy and chilly in Seattle, so some hot Chinese food sounded awesome. We headed to the I.D and checked out Jade Garden. This spot is really popular for dim sum and they get packed on the weekends. Since it was a quiet weeknight, we were seated right away.

They serve dim sum all day but we wanted just some classic dishes like Fried Rice and Sweet and Sour Chicken. I love hot tea at Asian restaurants when its cold out. My husband tried one of their beers, a Chinese beer called a Tsingtao, which went well with his food. We ordered some Veggie Fried Rice, Almond Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Garlic Sautéed Green Beans.

The dishes arrived one at a time and were hot and fresh. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was a little overcooked, but we really enjoyed the Almond Chicken. The beans were crispy and full of flavor and the rice had broccoli, peas, carrots, and scrambled eggs. We had a lot of leftovers, but not having to cook the next day was the best part.
