Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

  Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. Insomnia Coffee in Cannon Beach, OR

A Maple Spiced Latte from Insomnia Coffee Co. in Cannon Beach.
Cannon Beach is a must stop when visiting Oregon's North Coast. This cozy beach town is full of unique restaurants, stores, and coffee shops. This time, we visited Insomnia Coffee Co. for a coffee and an afternoon treat. They have four locations in Oregon. We've passed this spot a lot of times and I'd always been curious.

The interior was rustic and warm, and seemed to fit the vibe for the area. The coffee shop reminded me of a cozy ski lodge. They didn't have a big assortment of pastries, but I got the feeling the coffee was the star there. We chose a raspberry muffin and an oatmeal cookie. We also shared a large Maple Spiced Latte with Almond Milk.

The coffee ended up being not sweet enough and the Almond Milk overpowered it. But luckily, we had goodies to pair with the coffee. The muffin was huge and full of raspberries and the cookie was also well sized. It was soft and full of cranberry raisins. They were both good sized for splitting between the four of us. The coffee wasn't our fav, so next time we'd choose a different kind. But the interior was super cute and comfortable and seemed like a nice spot to hang out a while.
