Date Night in Pioneer Square | 13 Coins and Quality Athletics

The Huckleberry Cocktail from 13 Coins was the perfect start to our meal.

For quite some time I'd been wanting to do a food crawl in Pioneer Square. The area's changed so much over the years. There were two restaurants on my list of places to try. So with a date night coming up with my husband, the opportunity arrived to eat at them.

First up was 13 Coins. This Seattle institution has been open since 1967 and there's three locations. They're open 24 hours and are also family friendly. The food menu is large with tons of options. The location is Pioneer Square is located next to King Station and is also near the stadiums. The booths with the very tall backs caught me eye and looked cozy, yet classy. I started with a Huckleberry Cocktail with Huckleberry Vodka and my husband had a Maker's Money. His drink tasted like an Old Fashioned but a little sweeter. Their drinks menu is not available online, so I'm not sure about the ingredients. The other drink I tried was the Breakfast at Tiffany's. It was sweet and sour and I have no memory of what was in it, but it was delicious and quite strong. We ordered three appetizers. He had the fish tacos, while I ordered the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings with ranch, and the tri-colored Cauliflower.

The food was presented nicely and we dug right in. The plate of wings seemed to be never ending, as there were twelve to an order. These were some of the best wings ever. The coating was crispy and the flavor from the Parmesan was awesome. The Cauliflower was cooked perfectly and was served alongside a sauce that had a bit of a kick. I quickly got full, but I had to pace myself since we had another spot to go. I enjoyed our dinner at 13 Coins and would love to bring my whole family for brunch another time.

About a block up King Street, is Quality Athletics. They're a classic sports pub with an outdoor fireplace. The interior looks like a locker room and the floor has green carpet like a field. Their menu had looked intriguing online, but we were a little full from 13 Coins so we decided to split an app. I wanted some carbs and the pretzel bites with cheese looked promising. Unfortunately they were all out so we decided on an order of the Tofu Lumpia. They arrived hot and crispy with a sweet and sour sauce. They were perfect for sharing. To pair with our appetizer, my husband sipped a Long Island Iced Tea. I don't remember the name of my drink, but it was sweet and strong and had a raspberry liquor.

Then it was time to call it quits and head home. It was fun trying some new, (for me) restaurants in Pioneer Square for our date night!
