Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Two Doors Down

We recently checked out Two Doors Down in Madison Valley for some burgers and beer. They have a great location and the interior is cute and bright. You can order your food and drinks at the bar or down the stairs at the counter. They cater to families with large communal tables, booths, and even toys and games for kids. The offer tons of beer and wine choices to pair with your burger. During happy hour, you can get their Classic Burger for only $5.

I was interested in their happy hour burger and that's what brought me in. But my husband and I wanted to try the Beyond Burger and they charge three bucks more. Unfortunately the burger was not great and something I wouldn't eat again. If you're wondering what's in the vegan patty, I'll tell you. The workers didn't know the ingredients and if I had known, I wouldn't have ordered it. No, it didn't taste like meat at all and it contains 22 ingredients including pea protein isolate, expeller-pressed canola oil and coconut oil. And sadly it wasn't cooked well and tasted raw.

They serve a veggie burger that we should have ordered instead, or just went with a standard beef patty. The fries saved the day and were served in a large basket for our table to share. My husband had a local beer from a brewery in Queen Anne and I had a Mimosa. My son had a corn dog and my other son was smart and had a regular cheeseburger. And unfortunately they gave us all Swiss cheese instead of Cheddar on our burgers, but luckily my son still gobbled his up like a champ.

For dessert, we shared the Brownie Sundae. The servers were nice and the interior was Instagram worthy, I just with I would have had a regular cheeseburger.
