Brunch at Fat's Chicken and Waffles
The Eggs Benedict with Fried Green Tomatoes from Fat's Chicken and Waffles. |
Chicken and Waffles is one southern dish I can't get enough of. Fat's Chicken and Waffles, located in Seattle's Central District, is my new favorite spot to get it. We recently tried their Brunch. Fat's doesn't take reservations, so chances are, you'll be waiting in the rain for your fried chicken. But guess what? It's worth the wait.
The dining room is loud and bustling, as the servers deliver warm comfort food to hungry diners. Order up a Mimosa and sip it while you wait to get your grub on. I started with a Mimosa while my husband ordered a Hurricane. Our sons' love waffles, so this was the place for them. I chose the Chicken and Waffles while my husband had the Eggs Benedict with Fried Green Tomatoes.
Our food arrived and we were ready to devour it. A side of syrup and butter accompanied my dish and I couldn't wait to dig in. After pouring syrup all over, I cut into my chicken breast. It was steaming hot and you could tell it was cooked perfectly. The chicken had a nice bit of spice to it and had a wonderfully crispy skin. The size was big, and there was no bone. Its like this chicken was made for me. I can be picky with my chicken, but this was the best piece of I've ever eaten. The waffle was a nice size, too, with small squares that held the butter and syrup nicely. When I dine out, I usually eat half my portion, but here I plenty much polished off my plate. Our boys ate all their waffle and my husband really enjoyed his Eggs Benedict. He also tried one of their Bloody Mary's. For him, its not brunch out without one. They're my least favorite cocktail, so there was more for him!
I couldn't stop thinking about how good their chicken was, and I'm still craving more days later. If you want to try brunch at Fat's, try going early in the day. When we arrived around 11:30 a.m, there was a forty minute wait. I would recommend coming around 10:30 if you don't want to wait as long.
