Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Santa Fe Mexican Grill

After doing a little hiking at Cougar Mountain in Issaquah, we had worked up an appetite. Even though we didn't hike for long, something about getting some fresh air and exercise always does that. I was thinking Mexican, so we went on Yelp and found something close by with good reviews. Santa Fe Mexican Grill in Renton sounded good so we headed there.

It was really early for dinner so we ended up getting the whole outdoor patio to ourselves. We love eating outside at restaurants in the summertime. It was also Happy Hour so I ordered a 20. oz Margarita for only $6.50. I added strawberry flavoring for 50 cents. The drink was really big and it was made with fresh strawberries, too. It tasted so good after the hike and was very refreshing.

They also had a kids menu so our boys ordered Chicken Strips and fries and they both ate up their food. I went with the Super Burrito with Chicken. The burrito was huge and I could only eat half. The sauce on top was nice, but I would have liked cheddar cheese melted on top. It was a little plain so I had them bring some sour cream over. My husband had a combination plate with a Chicken Enchilada and a Chicken Taco. He polished off his whole plate and I was impressed. The service was fast and accommodating. Next time I'm back in Renton, I may check them out again. Especially for those HH Margaritas!
