Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Seattle Fish Guys

Time for poke! At Seattle Fish Guys I enjoyed some spicy tuna poke with rice, surimi, and mac salad.

For lunch we met up with our relatives at Seattle Fish Guys. They're a neighborhood fish market and restaurant located in the Central District. They sell poke, fresh salmon, sashimi, clam chowder, and even desserts from Hood Famous Bakeshop. Funny enough, we visited Hood Famous just last week and got to taste their amazing cheesecake. You can see my post here.

My husband and I both ordered some poke. I choose the spicy tuna poke with white rice, macaroni salad, and some surimi-imitation crab meat. He had salmon poke with white rice, mac salad, and some kimchee.

The plates ended up being huge, probably enough for three people to eat one. We should have shared one since they were also pretty pricey. My husband drank a Japanese beer to go with his poke. I dug right in to my food, enjoying all of the flavors and how well they tasted together. My poke was really spicy, but the rice and macaroni salad helped tone that down a little. I ended up with so much left over, since I find poke hard to eat a lot of. If you're not familiar with poke, it's raw fish cut into cubes. The rest of the family had the same variation of what we ate and all liked their food.

If fresh fish and seafood are your thing, then Seattle Fish Guys is a dream. It would be the perfect spot to purchase something and bring it back home to prepare an awesome meal. The poke is really good and fresh, but I would recommend sharing an order with a friend!

Cheesecake from Hood Famous! I would have bought one but we already had some the week before. I am taking a cheesecake break for now but I will return to Hood Famous or to Seattle Fish Guys and try more one day.

Fresh fish for days! This would be the place to buy some fish to take home and cook for dinner,

The camera had to eat first, but now its time to dig in!
