Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Sisters and Brothers

If you're a fan of Nashville Hot Chicken, then Sisters and Brothers is the place to go. They're located in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood, and the vibe is slightly dive bar and a little bit Nashville. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so arrive early if you want a table. If heat isn't your thing, then they recommend ordering your chicken Naked, without any spice. Our server told us that even the mild level of heat is really hot, so I ordered mine Naked. I started off with a Mai Tai, and it ended up being super strong. So be careful with the cocktails here, they pack a real punch.

I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken with the white meat and that arrived with a breast and a wing. The chicken comes with one side and I chose the Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese. We also shared an order of fries. My husband chose a sandwich, a Fried Green Tomato Sandwich. It came with a fried green tomato, pimento cheese, and slaw, on a brioche bun. The fry order was huge and we didn't even finish half. They came with a nice side of Ranch for dipping. The fries were hot and well seasoned, too. My chicken and mac and cheese hit the spot. It was the perfect cheat meal. Not healthy by any means, but really satisfying. This is the kind of meal you can't have often, and I knew I'd be eating salads the next day. The skin on the chicken was really crispy and had a nice flavor. I really liked the mac and cheese because of the Gouda cheese.

The service was really personable and I liked the vibe of the place. If you're looking for something different in Seattle and want to experience and taste Southern food, then this is your spot.
