Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Paseo in SODO

After getting a taste of what Paseo had to offer at the T-Mobile Park food preview, I knew I had to visit and try more of their delicious Caribbean eats.

This spot is a casual affair where you order your grub at the counter. They have some of the best sandwiches in the country and my husband hadn't had a chance to try one yet. He chose the Alaskan Cod sandwich which has pan seared fish in garlic tapenade, fresh cilantro, pickled jalapeños, caramelized onions, and crisp romaine. He dove right in, and although it was messy to the max, he enjoyed the flavors and the sandwich really satisfied.

And I had the best nachos of my life. They had lots of melted cheddar, pineapple, jalapeños, caramelized onions, and sour cream. The chips were perfect, too. I'm still dreaming of those nachos. To drink, I chose a Mango Sangria, which was perfectly sweet and strong, and was so incredibly good with the nachos.

Of course, we had to try the fries since we are huge fry fans and can never get enough. The Caribbean Fries were hot and crispy and came with a nice garlic aioli for dipping.

This location gets busy before a Mariners game and parking can get tricky, so check the schedule before you go. We got lucky and although there was a game, we got to Paseo early enough that we scored a parking spot and didn't have to wait in line to order our food.
