Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Date Night at the Fog Room

For our latest date night we took an elevator ride to the 16th floor of the Charter Hotel, to the rooftop bar, the Fog Room. We started with cocktails and some bites. We shared the Togarshi and Sesame Fries, the Deviled Eggs, and the Hummus plate.

We sat inside near the windows, but we did walk outside to check out the view. And it was an impressive one. I like heights, so being so far above 2nd Avenue was fun. It was also a gorgeous Spring evening, without a cloud in the sky. I love Seattle's buildings, so I had a blast photographing everything around me.

For a second round of drinks, I enjoyed a Sidecar and my husband had a shot of whiskey. All three dishes were spot on in flavor. The fries were so crispy and the sauce for dipping was really creamy. There was lemon and lime in the sauce to give it all some zing. The turnips and radishes that were paired with the hummus were bright and had a nice crunch. Our favorite plate were the deviled eggs. They had salmon, ikura, and dill, and were oh so good.

I'm so glad rooftop bars in Seattle are becoming more of a thing. The views are always impressive and they don't seem to hold back on high quality drinks and eats. Cheers!
