Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Macarons, MT. Rainer, and more | Our flight to San Diego

This February we took a trip to San Diego, CA. This Southern California city is very family friendly with many attractions like LEGOLAND and the famous zoo. Not only is February a cheaper time to visit but we also wanted to escape the cold weather in Seattle. It ended up snowing before we left and the day before we came back, making it a challenge to get to and from the airport. All four of us loved the warm weather in San Diego and soaked in the sun while we could.

We arrived at Sea-Tac Airport early for our flight, so we had time to walk around. We got macarons from Lady Yum and I had the Love Potion flavor. It had a strawberry filling and was tart and sweet, the perfect couple of bites.

We flew Alaska Air and the two hour flight was quick and pretty easy. Our favorite part was seeing MT. Rainer. The lighting on the mountain was a pretty pink and my son and I were blown away by the view. Alaska Air offers two snacks for purchase, the cheese and fruit box and the Mediterranean box. They also gave out complimentary drinks and Biscoff cookies.

Before we knew it, we were descending into San Diego. "Is this a dream?" my son asked as we flew by downtown San Diego, the skyscrapers winking at us in the night sky. "Nope. This is real, and we're going to have so much fun." I squealed. After we landed and grabbed our luggage, we headed to the rental car area and hopped in our rental car. Then we were off on our sunny California adventure!
