Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. A Visit to Pacific Beach in San Diego

On our first full day in San Diego we were busy checking out the city and Pacific Beach. Who goes to California and doesn't visit the beach? Not this girl. The weather was in the 60's but it was really sunny, warm, and not a cloud in the sky. We walked along the shore and took in the scene. The water was really blue and the palm trees were everywhere. It was the perfect view for us Seattleites.

Nearby the beach is Afters Ice Cream, a unique ice cream shop I'd been seeing on Instagram for a while. They are known for their Milky Bun, a glazed bun with ice cream. They also have a bright blue ice cream that looked interesting called Cookie Monster, filled with Oreo pieces. It looked too good to pass up, so I tried that with Cookie cereal pieces as my topping. It ended up being messy, but it was sweet and refreshing after being at the beach.

And then we had to grab a burger from In-N- Out, because if you visit CA and don't have it, you didn't really visit CA, right? San Diego has five locations and we visited the one near Pacific Beach. It took them a while to make my burger and when I bit into it, I found the quality just not there. It looked fab, but Shake Shack wins the burger war for me.
