Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Visit to Legoland California and the Sea Life Aquarium

One of the reasons our family visited San Diego was to go to LEGOLAND. Since we visited on a Thursday in February the lines weren't long at all and the crowds weren't crazy. We had to drive to Carlsbad, about forty minutes north of San Diego. We had a blast walking around and spent about four hours there. Our favorite part was Miniland USA where Las Vegas, New York City, Los Angeles, San Fran, D.C, and New Orleans were represented in miniature form. Duplo Land was also fun, located near Lego Friends Heartland City. It felt like we shrunk and were inside our boy's magic world of Lego. We did several of the rides. The train ride inside Duplo Land, the Helicopter ride in Fun Town, and the Bumper Cars ride, also located in Fun Town.

After walking around for a bit, I was suddenly starving. We came across a pizza place near Miniland USA, a walk up window spot, which worked out because it was really fast. Pizza Mania had personal size pizzas, salads, and desserts. We got one salad to share, and two personal cheese pizzas. It was decent and filled us up.

My son spotted a rice crispy treat he wanted at Pizza Mania that was the size of his head. He happily munched away and managed to put away half of it. Everyone ended up getting a treat. My other son decided he wanted a strawberry cone. We found one at Castle Ice Cream, located in Castle Hill. The dessert I was looking for were the Apple Fries, LEGOLAND's signature treat. I came across a Granny's Apple Fries location by Castle Hill. Their Apple Fries look like French fries but are apple slices coated in cinnamon and sugar, and then topped with a vanilla whipped cream. They were so good and tasted just like apple pie. While I sat at a table and happily snacked away, the rest of the family went up and down slides and bridges, and climbed on what resembled a tree house or fort in Castle Hill.

After we were done snacking, checking out the awesome Lego structures, and going on rides, it was time to check out the Sea Life Aquarium. Our tickets were hopper tickets, so they included both LEGOLAND and the aquarium. The size ended up being pretty big and we enjoyed checking it out. My favorite part were the sharks and the jellyfish. Then it was time to drive back to San Diego and rest our tired feet. We had so much fine at LEGOLAND and we hope our sons will always remember it!
