Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. A Visit to Sugar Bakery in Queen Anne

For flakey, soft, and buttery croissants visit Sugar Bakery. We checked out their Queen Anne location by Seattle Center after going to the Seattle Children's Museum. This bakery is just right for grabbing a coffee and a cookie after playing at Seattle Center. Our family liked it so much we'll have to make it a regular stop.

The location in lower Queen Anne is also a coffeehouse so I tried a Powerpuff Latte. This pretty and colorful latte had caramel, vanilla, and cardamom spice. I loved the flavor and besides being nice to look at, it gave me a good coffee buzz.

My husband and I each tried a savory croissant, a Turkey and Swiss. We also shared a Salted Caramel Croissant because I'd been hearing for years about how good they are at Sugar Bakery. Our boys each had a cookie, one had a snowman cookie and the other had a Snickerdoodle. Both croissants were really on point. We had them heated and that made them even better. The Turkey and Swiss Croissants were perfect and the Salted Caramel Croissant was really soft and light, with just the right amount of salted caramel glaze.

The gals working were welcoming and friendly. The bakery/coffeehouse was really quiet and peaceful. It was a relaxing place to sit back and enjoy pastries and coffee. And next time our family visits the museum, I'm sure we'll be stopping back in!
