Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Lunch at Tacos Chukis in Beacon Hill

For really authentic street tacos check out Tacos Chukis. They have several locations in Seattle. We checked out their Beacon Hill location. These are cheap eats in Seattle where your not compromising taste and quality. And you know you're supporting a local business and getting your grub on at the same time. They use corn tortillas for the tacos and they're around two bucks each. You can choose your protein and they're served with cilantro, onion, salsa, and guacamole. The pork tacos have pineapple so I chose two of those. I also chose one taco with beef. Along with tacos they serve Quesadillas, Burritos, and Tortas. The menu is small but that's expected for a taqueria. My husband tried a couple of tacos with beans and my boys each had a cheese quesadilla.

I also drank a Horchata with my tacos. This drink from South America is made from seeds that are ground with rice and spices like ground cocoa, cinnamon, sesame seeds, nutmeg, tiger nuts, and vanilla. Between the beef and pork tacos I preferred the pork. The pineapple hit it out of the park for me and the pork was tender and full of flavor. I also liked the zing from the salsa. The tacos were  messy but there were plenty of napkins in the center of each table.

This location is in a newer building and the space is clean, bright, and nicely decorated. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. They were relatively busy, so the word must be out about this place.

So to mix up your taco game, visit Tacos Chukis. Your tummy and your wallet will thank you!
