Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at I Love Sushi

After touring the Amazon Spheres, we were hungry and in need of some dinner. We didn't want to go too far, and we were craving sushi. We chose I Love Sushi on Lake Union. It was a no thrills spot and the service was really fast. They had a full bar but were also kid friendly. They also had a wide range of small plates to share and sushi rolls.

My husband had a Manny's beer and a shot of Jamison and I had a Midori Colada. My cocktail was really refreshing and tasted like a Pina Colada but better because of the Midori. Our sons ordered some Inari to share and I got the Crunch Roll. The Crunch Roll is a sushi roll with shrimp tempura, flying fish roe, avocado, crunchy tempura, and a spicy sauce. It was just the right portion and since I was pretty hungry, I made the whole thing disappear quickly. I enjoyed the shrimp and the crunchiness and heat of the sushi. My husband ate the Sockeye Salmon Sashimi. The portion was small but fresh and delicious.

Since they're located on Lake Union there's views of the Space Needle and the boats docked in the marina. After we were done eating we went outside to check out the view for ourselves. The night was clear and dark and the lights of the city blinked at us from across the way.
