Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. A Visit to the Chocolate Cafe in Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach is one of my favorite spots along the Oregon Coast. I love going to the beach and looking at Haystack Rock. And the mysterious Tillamook Rock Lighthouse looms in the distance. The landmark is also known as Terrible Tilly and it seems mysterious since there's rumors its haunted.

When I've had all my beach fun I head into the business district. There you'll find many restaurants, coffee shops, galleries, and souvenir shops. This year I checked out The Chocolate Café for the first time. I heard the chocolate shakes were worth getting, and since the day was warm it sounded so good. While my family played at the playground across the street I headed inside the Chocolate Café. The girl at the counter was friendly and helpful and seemed happy to see me. I browsed the chocolates for a while and then decided to try a small chocolate shake.

The presentation was nice and I was excited to try it. The shake was really thick so I ate it with a spoon. The texture was good but the chocolate flavor was lacking. It wasn't sweet enough and the chocolate was bitter. I shared it with my husband while we watched the boys play, so luckily, I could spread the calories to him a little. I also got him an Americano and it was made just right. They also had baked good like Chocolate Croissants and cookies that looked decent. The chocolates looked divine, too, and I was impressed with their selection.
