Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos. Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying. My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again. After dining on sushi and sipping cocktails at Momiji on Capital Hill, we wanted to pick up some cupcakes at Cupcake Royale to bring home. We were still in the holiday eating mode and we also wanted to pick up some treats as a thank you for our babysitter.

They still had their holiday flavors in stock, so I happily chose a Strawberry Champagne, a Salted Caramel, and a Dance Party cupcake. They were adorably dressed up with holiday inspired decorations.

I was also pleased and excited to see they had Rodeo Donuts, fancy donuts that Cupcake Royale sells in their stores that I've been wanting to try for forever. I finally got my chance and I picked out one covered in cereal with a sweet, white frosting inside. It had a maple icing on top, under the crunchy, sweet cereal. There was many textures to this donut and it was wonderfully delicious.

Cupcake Royale has it all in terms of satisfying the sweet tooth. Our family shared the cupcakes, thoroughly enjoying each bite. I've had those three flavors before and they didn't disappoint this time, either.

In the front is a Dance Party cupcake, topped with a white snowflake. Behind it is the Strawberry Champagne, looking festive and pink. Beside it is the Salted Caramel Cupcake also topped with a white snowflake, a little different from the Dance Party one.
