Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of ConsommĂ© sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Proletariat Pizza

When I think of White Center, great pizza doesn't usually come to mind, but maybe now it will. Our visit to Proletariat Pizza was a successful one. Our dinner was satisfying, fun, and I'm happy we checked it out.

If you have kids and you adore pizza, then this spot is for you. A full bar, even? Yes! Plus, there's video games, a photo booth in the back, and even a play area. Yes, this restaurant was the hit. But even better than all that was the star of the show, the pizza. This had to be some of the best ever. The crust was thin and the pepperoni was high quality. It was the pizza of my dreams.

I ordered a large, half Pepperoni, and half Cheese for my sons and I. The slices were gigantic, but thin, and the sauce had a nice flavor to it. My husband ordered a small pizza, The Favorite. It was a spicy one with Mama Lil's Peppers, plus garlic and Chicken Sausage. I sipped a cocktail, a Cosmo, one of my favorite go-to drinks. My hubby had a Rainer Beer which I'm sure was refreshing with his spicy pizza.

It was a Saturday night and the place was hopping. But the servers did a good job of taking care of everybody and the pizza came out in a pretty reasonable time. I'll have to return to Proletariat now that I know how delicious it is. It didn't look like much from the outside, so never choose a book by its cover. I mean, never choose a pizza place from the outside. Because when you love pizza as much as I do, you don't want to miss out on trying something new you'll end up really enjoying.
