Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

What we ate on Instagram this summer-A Labor Day review

Well, that's it then. No more summer. No more wearing white. No more ice cream, chilled wine, and burgers. Even though the calendar says that summer actually ends on September 22nd, people think of summer ending on Labor Day. But guess what? Just because summer is ending doesn't mean you can't still have a good time. So if you want to keep eating sundaes in the fall, I won't tell.
Sometimes you just want chocolate cake, and you just can't say no. While doing my weekly grocery shopping, I just couldn't pass up this slice of German Chocolate Cheesecake.
After a 4th of July weekend of eating and drinking, this fresh chicken salad for lunch was just the ticket.
One Saturday afternoon while my family was sleeping, I sneaked away to the store and bought ice cream sundae stuff and surprised them when they woke up. I made a banana split with mine. What a perfect summer treat!

One summer day, we finally tried Chick-fil-A. It wasn't my favorite chicken sandwich ever, but I could see the appeal.

Sometimes burgers at home can be just as good as a restaurant. This burger, my husband's idea, has a relish and mayo sauce then is topped with lettuce and cheese. His version of a Dick's Burger, a favorite burger place in Seattle.

My sister-in-law's birthday is the end of August, so we surprised her with treats from Trader Joe's. This were Cookie Butter Cheesecake squares and they were delicious and creamy.
The other birthday treat were macarons. They were very light and subtle.
Today I got to try Dragonfruit. Very pretty on the outside, and white and black when you cut into it. It tasted very light and clean, and not too sweet.
Some slices in the summertime at Pagliacci was just right. I got a slice of the classic Pepperoni, and then I tried a slice of the Spicy Chicken.
A fruit salad I was eating at the beginning of the summer had strawberries, bananas, and huckleberries. At the time I still had some frozen huckleberries from MT, but sadly, not anymore.
National Doughnut Day on June 2nd caused everyone to go doughnut crazy. Krispy Kreme was giving them away for free, one per customer. So our family went and got our doughnut on.
Another summer day after playing at the park we stopped in at Krispy Kreme and had a Frozen Caramel Latte and a Cake Batter Doughnut. It was a hot summer so it was the perfect pick me up.
My official drink of the summer was L'Amarca Prosecco. Super bubbly and crisp, it was perfect for the hot days.
We went a little Krispy Kreme crazy this summer!
And finally, not summer is complete without a visit to Baskin Robbins. We tried a sundae with a scoop of Oreo Cheesecake and a scoop of Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream.
