Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A Visit to Remlinger Farms in Carnation, WA

An ideal summer destination for families is Remlinger Farms in Carnation, WA. This family fun park is located about forty five miles from Seattle and is just right for toddler aged kids. This large farm has a store where their products are sold, carnival rides, pony rides, a restaurant, a small steam train to ride, U-pick farms, a petting zoo, and more. They are seasonal so they are just open in the summertime. The nice thing was the attractions were included in the admission price. We purchased a Groupon for the four of us, so we found the price to be worth it.

Our favorite part of the day was riding the train. It went around the whole property, along the Tolt River and the 4-H animal enclosures. It was nice to get away form the noisy city for the day and enjoy the county. Our sons loved the rides, especially the canoe ride, the kiddie train ride, and the mini Ferris Wheel. There was also a hay maze, which my kids had never seen and declared that the hay smelled so good!

For lunch we ate in the full service restaurant, located inside by the entrance to the park. The prices were reasonable and the servings large. I had the Salsa Ranch Chicken Sandwich with fries for $9.50, my husband had the Farm Cheeseburger and fries for $9.50, and our boys had the kid's meals for $5.99. One had the Chicken Strips, and the other had the Grilled Cheese. Each kid's meal came with fries, a drink, and a cookie. At the end of the day, we were ready for a treat. We shared a triple scoop waffle cone, which was around $6, so not bad at all. We had a scoop of cookie dough ice cream, cookies and cream, and mint chocolate chip. What a way to end on a sweet note!
