Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. Ice Cream at Molly Moon's in Columbia City

Molly Moon's just opened their 8th scoop shop in the Seattle area.  The latest location is in Columbia City and they opened June 2nd. Some of their neighbors include Geraldine's Counter, Tutta Bella, Super Six, and Columbia City Bakery, so I think they're in good company.

Several years back, I tried a scoop of Salted Caramel from Molly Moon's and I never forgot how incredibly creamy, sweet, and perfectly salty it tasted. I promised myself someday I'd have it again and today I did. There was a line inside with about fifteen people. But the smell of the fresh made waffle cones called out to me, and I decided to hop in line. My husband wanted something with fruit, so the seasonal flavor, the Strawberry Shortcake, called out to me. I ordered one scoop in a waffle cone so we could share. I also ordered a kid's scoop of the salted caramel with sprinkles for my son. I decided that way I could sneak a few bites to see if it tasted as good as I remembered, but then I could also try a new flavor in a waffle cone. A total ice cream win. The Strawberry Shortcake was subtle, really creamy, and just right.
