Happy Hour at TanakaSan

A night out on the town with my husband was just what the doctor ordered.  We headed to 6th Ave. and Lenora in downtown Seattle to try happy hour at TanakaSan.  It was a dim and elegant spot serving Asian fusion, a Tom Douglas restaurant, so we knew it would be good.  He partnered up with Eric Tanaka, to create some modern Asian-American cuisine.  We sat at the bar and each started with a drink.  I had a pear sake drink that was cool and refreshing and my husband had a beer.  Then we each had an order of the Salty Caramel Chicken Wings, which had a sweet and crispy coating and were spicy because of the Serranos.  Which was a good thing because outside, the weather was chilly and these wings hit the spot.  Then we shared the Spicy Tuna which had tobiko, scallion, house fried taro, sweet potato and lotus chips.  They were so good that I'm still craving them days later.  I didn't expect to love it so much because the flavors are still new to me.  I'll be looking for this dish everywhere now.  Then I sipped on a Grey Goose Cosmo and finally, it was time for some Hong Kong Bubble Waffle.  It was served with Apple Cinnamon Ice Cream, caramel sauce, whipped cream and cherries.  Check please.  I'm now ready to brave the cold again.  We left perfectly sated and happy.
