Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Acorns

To celebrate the falling leaves, the changing colors, and Thanksgiving right around the corner, I made Chocolate and Peanut Butter Acorns.  They're the perfect Thanksgiving treat for any party or even just to snack on while you get that turkey in the oven.  Just be careful.  These things are addicting.  Did I mention how tasty they are?  Chocolate and Peanut Butter have always been a match made in heaven and you can never lose when Hershey Kisses and Nutter Butters are involved.  These cute little acorns take just three ingredients to create and you don't even have to use your oven.

Just melt some mini semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave.  Then put a little melted chocolate on a Nutter Butter and press a Hershey Kiss on top.  On the other side of the Nutter Butter, you'll put a tiny bit more melted chocolate and place one non melted mini chocolate chip.  Presto, you have an acorn.

Make as many as you want until you run out of Kisses and Nutter Butters but beware it can get a little tedious assembling the acorns.  My son "helped" but that only lasted so long because he was eating so many Kisses and Nutter Butters.  He did learn how to unwrap the Hershey Kisses, so I guess that's something?  Remember when working in the kitchen with toddlers that you need a lot of time and patience.  Also, messes can't bother you so much.  So I sent him out of the kitchen and finished on my own.  So its up to you how many acorns you want to make.  You can just make a handful or you can make a bunch for your Thanksgiving gathering.
