Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Sushi Village

Sushi Village in Whistler had some of the freshest and unique sushi I've eaten.  My husband tried the KFC Roll, sushi with fried chicken, one of their most popular items.  Their Sake Margaritas, I sipped a strawberry one, are also refreshing and yummy and another popular item to try.  I ordered the Mango Caterpillar Roll with mango, prawn tempura, unagi, and was wrapped in thinly sliced avocado.  It's a popular spot in Whistler Village with waits sometimes up to one hour.  We were lucky and only waited about fifteen minutes for our table.  Sushi Village was the perfect meal to start our trip off right.  It was fun to sip my Margarita while looking at the square below and anticipating the fun weekend ahead.

My Strawberry Sake Margarita and my husband's Whistler Lager were a nice start to our meal at Sushi Village.

The kid's chopsticks were adorable!

My Mango Caterpillar Roll.  I loved the fresh mango and crunchy bites of prawn.

I also had a California Roll with fresh crab which I've never had.  The fresh crab made all the difference in upping the quality of the sushi.

My husband's KFC Roll.  See the chicken inside the sushi?  That's a new one but a good one!

He also had the Crunchy Smoked Salmon Roll.  He really enjoyed how the mango and salmon tasted together and how the crunchiness added to the uniqueness of the sushi.
