Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Crepe Montagne

For the best crepes in Whistler head to Crepe Montagne, a French place located in Whistler Village.  Besides serving wonderful savory buckwheat crepes and simply mouthwatering sweet crepes, they also have salads, French onion soup, escargots, and fondue.  The fondue would be perfect for wintertime for après ski.  Since we visited in the summer and the weather was in the high eighties, a  goat cheese and tomato crepe served with a salad did the job for a nice seasonal lunch.  Every bite was filled with creamy goat cheese and fresh tomatoes, a really nice combination.  My husband had the same idea and went with a chicken and goat cheese crepe.  His cocktail of choice was a Bloody Mary while I had a Punch St. Germaine.  My drink had pineapple juice and rum and had a sugared rim.  My cocktail went down smoothly and tasted like a Mai Tai.  So good.  The boys shared the French toast from the kids' menu and then for dessert the four of us shared the lemon curd crepe.  For only four bucks, since we ate the one from the kids' menu, it was a real treat and so, so delicious.  The lemon curd was perfectly tart and sweet and each bite tasted like summertime in Whistler.
