Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Fast and Casual Food on the Vegas Strip

You can find any type of food imaginable on the Vegas Strip.  Within a couple of miles there are hundreds of choices.  Diners can choose either a long leisurely and decedent meal out or a quick, but still delicious one so they can get back to all of the sightseeing, gambling, and shopping that awaits.  A celebrity chef, Bobby Flay, gives diners just that at Bobby's Burger Paradise.  You can get a tasty, artisan burger topped with potato chips, onions, and a spiked milkshake with bourbon.  His place is a fast, casual spot where you can find incredible food that costs less and doesn't take forever to grab a bite to eat.  Shake Shack at New York- New York is another spot to grab a burger.  Not only was it cheap but some of the best burgers we've ever had.  The red velvet frozen custard was a nice addition to the meal.  Another quick meal out we ate was at Pink's Hot Dogs at Planet Hollywood.  They were the biggest hot dogs we've ever eaten and they had a nice snap to them.  The fries were hot and crispy, too.  We spent a pretty penny on meals out in Vegas so it was nice to find these three cheap but still super tasty places to get our grub on.

The Vanilla Bourbon Caramel Shake hit the spot.

The fries at BBP were delicious and hand cut fries.  You normally don't find these at fast/casual places.

The Bobby Bleu Burger.

The onion rings were big with a nice coating and plenty of dipping sauces to choose from.

The Crunchburger with American cheese and Potato Chips.  It was overly salty from all the chips but the beef was perfectly cooked and I liked how the cheese was melted all the way.

The perfect lunch for a day of walking around the Vegas Strip.  Don't forget the fries and frozen custard.  Hint- the burgers are small so two each wouldn't be the worst idea.  We shared two burgers between four of us and it felt like more of a snack.

I had the Chicago dog which has lettuce and tomato.  The dog was huge so I only ate half.  The rest went to my husband to polish off.

My husband had the hotdog with coleslaw and loved it.  It was probably his favorite thing he had all week but hot dogs are one of his favorite foods to begin with!
