Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dino's Tomato Pie

I couldn't wait to check out Dino's Tomato Pie on Capital Hill that recently opened.  I am a big fan of the pizza at Delancey, and Dino's is owned by the same lovely people.  So after having a beer at Perihelion Brewery, we headed to the hill and got ourselves some cocktails and pizza.  I loved the 90's Jersey feel and the family photos on the wall.  I loved the lights and even the dark paneling.  For me, it did bring me back to the 90's.  Heading to the roller rink with friends or hanging out at friend's houses, the look and feel of the place really worked for me.  But then the food arrived and things got even better.  We started with The Fancy Salad with arugula, fennel, and some sort of incredible mouthwatering salami.  The salad was served with a vinaigrette dressing in a bottle, on the side.  For our pizza, we decided on the 18'' round with half pepperoni and half cheese.  When that pizza arrived, my husband almost jumped for joy.  Thin crust is his favorite and he was happily surprised.  He took one bite and sighed happily.  He didn't care as much about the ambiance as I did, but the pizza was spot on for him.  I too, loved the pizza and we actually polished the whole thing off.  We sipped cocktails, Ice Cold Old Fashioned's and then we shared a Blue Ricky- a blue drink with rum, coconut, and pineapple.   I liked the contrast between the dive bar Jersey look and the delicious food with high quality ingredients and taste.
