Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Vivo 53

There's a new and high end pizza place in the heart of Bellevue, called Vivo 53.  The reason for the name is that it took fifty three tries to get the pizza perfect.  I'd say they were successful, as the pizza was incredible.  It probably didn't hurt that mine had at least three meats, as you can't go wrong with that.  We started off with cocktails which were handcrafted and delicious.   I could tell thought went into the making and presentation of them.  My husband was in a chicken mood, I guess, and ordered the spicy chicken wings for an appetizer and then the Tuscan Chicken later.  The spicy chicken wings were crispy with a nice coating and the level of spice was right on.  I had the Fried Brussels Sprouts which I enjoyed immensely and probably never liked a vegetable so much.  I enjoyed the ambiance and the feel of the restaurant.  They opened only two weeks ago but are already drawing the crowds.  I liked the large pizza oven which dominates the space.  There's a large bar to the left and a red chandelier towards the back, to add some color to the space and make it pop.

The Fried Brussels Sprouts were a great start to my meal.  It had capers, parsley, almonds, and red wine vinaigrette.

I loved the spicy chicken wings which were a little nicer then some I've had at pizza places.  I liked how the appetizers and drinks matched the high caliber pizza.

My Meat Paradiso pizza, which I really liked.  The ingredients were high quality and that makes all the difference.

The Tuscan Chicken with Arugula and Salsa Verde sauce on the side.

A fresh Mushroom pizza, just out of the oven.
