Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Family Portraits at Olympic Sculpture Park

Last weekend I shot some family portraits at Seattle's Olympic Sculpture Park.  This park, formally called Myrtle Edwards was built in 2007 and is a great location for portraits.  I've photographed Seniors, families and pets here and I love all the different backgrounds, vertical lines and textures the park offers.  There is something for everyone at the Sculpture Park.  Art, a greenhouse, tons of trees, views of the city, Elliott Bay and the Olympics in the distance.  At the entrance of the park is a fountain and stairs which lead to a walkway across the park.  I usually start there at the stairs because I love the vertical lines in the background.  The family I photographed were really nice and were great to work with.  They have a four month old son who did wonderful during the shoot and didn't seem to mind the cold January day.  Luckily for us it was a beautiful sunny day.  The sky was clear and rain was very far from everyones mind that Saturday.  To mix up their photos a little, I did some in sepia tone, some in black and white and the rest in color.  The Olympic Sculpture Park is a beautiful place and another reason I love Seattle so much.
