Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Steelhead Diner

To celebrate our wedding anniversary my husband and I had dinner at Steelhead Diner in the Pike Place Market.  With views of the market and Puget Sound, its upscale atmosphere and delicious eats, its not like any diner I've ever been to.  I enjoyed the fresh seafood in both dishes I ordered.  I ate a cup of the Alaskan Razer Clam Chowder which was probably the best chowder ever.  It had apple smoked bacon with a drizzle of olive oil on top.  Then I ate the crab and shrimp tater tots which were also delicious.  I loved the way the cheeses blended with the seafood, the crispness of the tater tots and then the hint of flavor and spice from the sauce drizzled as a garnish.  My husband ordered the fish and chips which came with two large pieces of fish and tons of fries.  For dessert we ordered the Washington Cherry Bomb.  This amazing dessert had many components that just made it sing.  The cherries were so fresh and we loved the hazelnut streusel, vanilla ice cream and incredible caramel sauce.  Then it was garnished with a mint leaf.  Fabulous tasting and the perfect anniversary dessert.  It was the "cherry on top".
