Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Happy Hour at Ivar's Acres of Clams

Yesterday was a perfect July day so my husband and I decided to head over to the Seattle Waterfront and fight the tourists for a bite to eat and a spin on the new Seattle Great Wheel.  I just wanted a glass of red wine and an appetizer so I chose Happy Hour at Ivar's.  I've eaten at the walk up Ivar's many times.  I remember as a kid, throwing french fries to the seagulls and watching them as they caught the fries in their mouths.  But I've only eaten inside the restaurant a couple of times and never checked out their Happy Hour.  With it being a Saturday night, the place was packed so we walked past the hostess desk right to the full bar where we managed to find two seats.  We each ordered a glass of wine and I ate the Smoked Salmon Plate.  My husband had the Cheeseburger and Fries.

My glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, a 14 Hands '10 from the Columbia Valley.
The Smoked Salmon Plate I ate.  It had a whipped lemon mascarpone cheese, pickled red pepper jam and served with three crostini.
My husbands' burger and fries.  I love their fries.  I won't lie, I had a few.
The good tables in the dining room look out towards Elliot Bay and the Ferries.

After eating dinner, we headed over to the Seattle Great Wheel and got in line for our ride above the city and Elliot Bay.  We decided to skip dessert but planned on sharing an ice cream cone after the Ferris Wheel. Ivar's Acres of Clams on Urbanspoon
