Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

A visit to the new Chihuly Museum and dinner at Koral in Bellevue

To celebrate our five year Wedding Anniversary yesterday, we went and checked out the new Dale Chihuly museum at Seattle Center.  It's called the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum.  There are eleven different rooms and spaces of beautiful handmade and colorful glass displays to view.  The elaborate installations flow on floors, walls, ceilings and outside in the gardens.  In the glasshouse, there's a 100-foot long sculpture.  There's even a cafe inside the museum with Dale Chihuly's things he has collected over the years on display.  He is from the Seattle area but his work has been displayed all over the world.  I saw his work at the Belligio Hotel in Las Vegas and was hooked ever since.  I love viewing and photographing large sculpture's, so the museum was a hit for me.

Inside the Collections Cafe.  We didn't eat dinner here-we headed over to Bellevue and ate our Anniversary Dinner at Koral

Koral is a restaurant in Bellevue that recently opened and it's located in the Hyatt Hotel.

We started with an appetizer of Artichoke crostini with Parmesan and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

I ordered the Kitchen Burger with Serious Goo Factor and Handcut Fies.  I only ended up eating half and then I gave the other half to my husband.  It was so good, and very "gooey"! You definitely need napkins with this burger! My husband ordered the Thick Cut Lamb Chops with Rosemary Rub and White Beans.

This burger deserves another view, so here you go.  The handcut fries were so good and I dipped them in ranch.  I have always preferred think cut fries and these hit the mark.

Because our server knew it was our Wedding Anniversary he brought out a free dessert of our choice.  After salivating over the dessert menu for a while, we decided on the New York Style Cheesecake with Sweetened Cream and Fresh Blueberries.  He even brought a candle with the dessert for a nice celebratory touch.

My husband ordered an espresso to go with dessert and I got a cup of decaf coffee.  From appetizers to dessert, it was a delicious meal.  We were very impressed by Koral and hope to eat them again.  Click here for their website and to see their menu.
