Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Nutella Peanut Butter Swirl Cookies for National Peanut Butter Cookie Day

Today is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day so I made cookies with Nutella swirled into the dough for a special twist.  I was fooling around on Pinterest, come on, we're all pretty much addicted by now, and spotted these cookies from ericasweettooth.com.   Today is a rainy June day, so baking cookies sounded like the perfect plan.  I ate one right out of the oven when they were done baking.  I don't think many things in life can compare to eating a warm, fresh baked cookie.  I loved the way the peanut butter and the Nutella tasted together.  It was hard to eat just one, so I didn't.  When the next batch was done I had a second cookie.

Getting ready to bake in the oven!
See the Nutella swirled into the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough? Hands off though, you don't want to get sick from the raw egg.
Yeah, I think there's enough dough left for more batches!
The final product-time to test them and make sure they taste good!

The recipe for Nutella Peanut Butter Swirl Cookies is found on ericasweettooth.com and you can click here.  My house smells like fresh baked cookies and that's a wonderful thing! Happy Baking!
