Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Dinner at Bar Del Corso

Last night we ate at a new pizzeria in Beacon Hill called Bar Del Corso.  The menu features authentic Italian pizza cooked in a wood fired oven and the ingredients are all natural and local.  The owner has over thirty years of experience in Italian cooking and his wife also works there, in fact she sat us at our table.  The owner is also the one cooking the pizzas and he even served our Margherita Pizza.  The restaurant has a community feel to it and it already a popular place as every table was filled by 6:15.

My husband ordered a glass of red wine, a Primi Tivo- an Italian grape.  The wine came in this really cute glass!
Next we split an appetizer, Suppli al Telefono- a Roman street food which has fried Risotto and Mozzarella.  They were absolutely delicious, like nothing I've ever eaten.  They were the perfect blend of fried and crispy with sea salt and then warm cheese and rice inside.  My taste buds were happy!

Then our pizza arrived.  We shared the Margherita Pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil and olive oil.  I love this kind of authentic pizza because the crust is so thin and the ingredients are so natural.  The crust was charred perfectly but my favorite part of any pizza is the cheese and it didn't disappoint.

Bar Del Corso is located at 3057 Beacon Ave. S. in Seattle.  They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 5:00 to 10:00 PM.  They do not take reservations so arrive early for a table.
