Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Exploring Disney Springs

A Florida evening in Disney Springs- the shopping, dining, and entertainment district in Disney World.

During our Disney trip, we took a rest day and checked out Disney Springs. We were able to take a Disney bus from our resort at All-Star Movies and arrive in about fifteen minutes to Disney Springs. This shopping and dining district is big, and you could easily spend a whole day here. My sons and I arrived in the late afternoon. We did some shopping, bought a snack, and then we had a dinner reservation at The Boathouse. I'll cover that experience in my next post!

We visited the Lego Store, which is huge, and there was a small line to enter. I bought my sons each a small set to build during dinner. We really enjoyed the Disney Lego structures outside the store and the cool Spiderman inside. We also checked out the World of Disney. The store was massive, and it was super crowded. We spotted a Rainforest Cafe with a volcano that actually shoots fire from the top. We were wowed by that! We also walked by the restaurants and dessert shops I was interested in, but didn't have time for. We saw Gideon's Bakehouse, but the line to get inside was 45 minutes! Their cookies are really popular, I hear!

Then we kept on walking around and ended up at Goofy's Candy Co. There were so many options of goodies in this colorful store. My son and I chose cake pops. Here, you can choose your own flavors, from the type of chocolate, the filling, and which topping you'd like. Then you can watch the candy makers make yours! I went with a chocolate cake pop with a vanilla coating, and peanut butter pieces on top. It was sweet and delicious!

After dinner at The Boathouse, my sons and I went to The Basket. This is a walk-up window at Wine Bar George, and I had heard their Millionaire Shortbread was worth getting. It was definitely good! The piece was huge, with a shortbread layer, a luscious and buttery caramel layer, and then topped with dark chocolate. Then it was time to go grab a bus back to our resort and check out our resort pool!

We had so much fun visiting Disney Springs! I loved the Florida feel and Disney magic, and all of the wonderful dining options. It was hard to choose where to go! I can't wait to return someday and check out more.
