An out of this world meal at Space 220 in Epcot

The space themed dining experience in Epcot, Space 220, was one of our favorite experiences during out trip! Diners at Space 220 feel like they're eating in space with the galactic views and vibes.

Sometimes you book a restaurant reservation and you hear it's overhyped and the food isn't great. That was the case for Space 220 in Epcot. But I knew looking at photos that my sons and I would love the experience. We're into space themed things, so I knew we'd enjoy dining in this immersive restaurant. I'm also a sucker for novelty food and drinks, so that helped, too! But I didn't expect to enjoy the food as much as I did. This was my favorite meal of our Disney trip. The price is high to dine here, but this was our one splurge meal of the trip. The lunch price is $55 and that gets you two courses. My sons were able to order from the kid's menu and their meals came with an entree and a dessert.

When you first arrive in the lobby, your party is handed a boarding pass, and you line up by the elevator. In the elevator, you only go up one floor I believe, but in this immersive experience, you're traveling to space in a spaceship. Diners line up around a big circle with a screen below and above them. Looking down, a screen shows you shooting up into space from where you're located in Epcot, and above is space, which approaches at a fast rate.

Then you arrive in space and go through a blue tunnel to a hostess stand. From there, you're brought to your table in space with views of Earth and other cool galactic things. If you're lucky, you'll get a booth with views of Earth. We got a booth by the windows, not of Earth, but we did see astronauts and other space things. Our server was so nice and welcoming to space and even kept up with space banter the whole meal.

I had my favorite cocktail of the trip, an Up All Night Espresso Martini. This space themed cocktail even had a mini astronaut ice cream sandwich on top. I loved the flavors of the drink, and the ice cream garnish was so cute on right on theme. Since my pre-fix meal included an appetizer and an entree I started with the Blue Moon Cauliflower. This is one of their most popular starters. It has Tempura Fried Cauliflower, a house made hot sauce, and a bleu cheese dust on top. This was spicy yet still tasted fresh and full of flavor.

My sons got Zero-Proof Sippers, which each came in cool souvenir cup with Space 220 collectable cards. They had a Moon Rocks drink which had lemonade, cotton candy syrup, and coconut. To eat, one of my boys had some Mac and Cheese and my other boy had Chicken Tenders. For my entree I ordered the Interstellar Steak and Frites. This was a NY Strip Streak, with a roasted garlic butter. It was accompanied by Haricots Verts, and crispy fries. This was a huge steak and the best steak I've eaten. It was prepared medium rare, just how I like it. I was not only wowed by my food, but I also loved the views and vibes of the dining room.

For my boys' desserts, they were also unique and space themed. One dessert was the Milky Meltaway. This was a chocolate dome with caramel, and chocolate, which was poured by a server tableside. Then it was topped with vanilla ice cream. My sons loved the show of this dessert and how rich and sweet it tasted! My other son went with the Shooting Star Jello. This bright and fun dessert had a berry Jello, with whipped cream, gummies, and rock candy.

Before we knew it, it was time to shoot back down to Earth. We left the same way we arrived, going back in the elevator and getting that cool rocket experience again. We loved our lunch at Space 220 and would recommend it for sure!

Space 220 is located in the World Discovery at the Mission: SPACE Pavilion.
