A Visit to Epcot | Festival of the Arts 2025 and The World Showcase
Spaceship Earth is 180 feet tall and is the largest free-standing sphere in the world! This attraction is the main focal point at Epcot. At night, it does light up with different colored bulbs and looks so pretty! They do have fireworks nightly, but since it was raining during our visit, I don't think they did any.
Our second park day on our recent Disney World trip was Epcot. I was so excited to finally see Spaceship Earth, check out the Festival of the Arts, and visit all eleven countries that are featured in The World Showcase! The weather was overcast and a little humid for half of our day. But then the rain came, and we definitely got soaked. It was tricky to take photos of the attractions, and we missed some of the rides we wanted to go on because of the outdoor lines. We did have an umbrella and ponchos, but it took away from the fun of exploring since we were trying to stay dry. I missed a lot of things, so I'll just have to return someday!
The Festival of the Arts is one of four annual Epcot festivals. This event runs from late January to around the end of February. We caught it on one of the last days. Right now, it's currently the Flower and Garden Festival, which I'd love to someday check out. They did have a few topiaries up we were able to see. The Lion King one was impressive. During Flower and Garden, there's topiaries everywhere and each one looks more special than the next.
In late August, the festival is Food and Wine, and then there's Festival of the Holidays to wrap things up for the year. Each festival features specialty food and drinks around the food booths and The World Showcase. We were able to try a few festival foods which I'll show in my next post! There's also unique Disney art by local artists for sale, incredible Disney sidewalk art, live performances of artists painting, a huge mural everyone can contribute too, and much more! It started pouring right when we were about to paint a few squares for the festival mural, and they closed it for the day.
We had an ''out of this world'' lunch at Space 220, which I'll write about in two posts from now. We were also able to try some unique desserts and snacks around some of the countries which I'll share about in my next blog post, along with the festival food we tried. For dinner we had some BBQ in the America pavilion. We went on a few rides and had a blast! Sourin' Around the World was awesome, and Living with the Land was nice and relaxing. We really wanted to ride Frozen Ever After, but it was pouring, and we didn't want to stand outside since the line was 45 minutes long. A must-do for next time! In the France Pavilion, we checked out The Beauty and Beast Sing Along, in a cool French theatre, which I loved!
The World Showcase features eleven countries and are located in a loop that's 1.2 miles long around The World Showcase Lagoon. They are all staffed by the citizens of each place, which I thought was awesome. Before the rain arrived, I was able to get some shots of the architecture around some of the countries.
This area is so fun, and I'd love to visit on a sunny day. Epcot is an amazing theme park, full of unique eats and drinks, beautiful architecture, fun thrill rides, and lots of culture to boot! What's not to love about this park!?
You can catch the monorail to Epcot, too, along with the Disney Skyliner. This is a gondola that's so fun to ride!
The UK pavilion.
The France pavilion! It looked like the real thing from a distance. To the right you can see the Disney Skyliner.
