Dinner at Kuma Kitchen and Bar
The crispy Umami Fries from Kuma Kitchen and Bar in Georgetown.
For Cambodian food and unique cocktails, we dined at Kuma Kitchen and Bar. They serve dishes with bold Asian flavors that pair well with the drinks. We started with some Umani Fries. These shoestring fries are tossed in a fish sauce glaze, then are topped with Thai Chilis, cilantro, green onions, and lime. We ordered the Thai Chilis on the side, since our server said they were hot. These fries were some of the best fries we've eaten. They were super thin and crispy, and the fish sauce glaze gave them a crunchy and caramelized coating. We could have easily polished off our own order of these fries.
I love anything lavender flavored or scented, so I went with their Lavender BG. This pretty purple cocktail had candy infused vodka, Elderflower liqueur, lemon, Creme De Violette, bitters, and egg whites. It was topped with a lavender sprig and the drink had a nice, subtle lavender flavor. My husband ordered an Into the Forest drink. This drink is similar to an Old Fashioned and came in a bottle, which he poured into his glass, creating a nice smoke for a wow factor and a deep smokey smell. This cocktail had bourbon, bitters, rosemary, and maple syrup.
I also tried a Shaken Iced Tea. For an extra $4, you can add a shot of alcohol. I added rum and crystal popping pearls, which was $1 more. You can also choose which fruit for the tea, so I selected Guava. For $10 this was a solid drink! I loved how sweet and refreshing it was, and the popping pearls were a fun touch!
My husband ordered the Beef Pho. He enjoyed the different cuts of beef and the rich warm broth. We also had two kinds of chicken wings. We ordered the Golden Wings and the Signature Wings. The Golden Wings were pretty standard wings and came with a Sweet Chili sauce for dipping. Of the two, I preferred the Signature Wings which had a Garlic Fish Sauce Glaze. These wings had a nice and sticky coating and were packed with flavor. I loved these! These wings were messy, but so worth it.
The service was great, and the space was upscale, with a chill vibe. This space has been other restaurants in the past which we ate at, but I'm hoping Kuma Kitchen and Bar will be here a long time. I've got to go back for more of those fries, wings, and boozy Shaken Tea!
