NW Montana Scenery | August 2024

Summertime in Northwest MT is something special. Winters can be long here, with snow from October through May. When summer comes around, the lakes and mountains are where you want to be, soaking up the views and sunshine. On our family's recent trip to the Flathead Valley, we mostly hung out with family, but we did manage to explore a little of the area's great outdoors.

On the second night we were there, we went to Glacier National Park for a picnic. Our family likes to head to Fish Creek, which is located on Lake McDonald. Apgar is the main area visitors like to go to check out the gorgeous views of the lake. But we like to drive around a bit to Fish Creek. This beach area is quieter, and my mom and brother also like to fish there.

Lake McDonald is famous for its clear waters. Water sports are popular here, too, with many boaters, swimmers, people fishing, and more. Our sons and their cousins had a blast wading. I even waded, too, and the water was not too cold at all since the day was hot.

Another day we checked out River's Edge, a park in Columbia Falls. This park also had some good fishing, and lots of paved trails for biking, walking, and in our sons' case- scootering.

On our last full day in MT, we went with my mom and aunt to Whitefish City Beach. This beach gets packed in the summer and the parking lot fills up quickly. But the sunny vibes along with the striking views of Whitefish Lake and Whitefish Mountain Resort are worth it. We had fun wading here, too.

We witnessed a summer storm one evening as we were coming back from dinner. The sky was super dark grey, it started pouring, and as we pulled into my mom's place, this pretty rainbow appeared. Before we knew it, it was sunny again.

Thanks for checking out my landscape shots from my MT trip! Stay tuned for more food blog posts from my trip!
