May Eats and Drinks

May is a fun month since it's the month before summer starts and there's lots of celebrations. Some people refer to the month as 'Maycember', since it's a lot like December in that way. Birthdays, graduations, Memorial Day, Mother's Day, special school celebrations, and more take up a lot of May.

This month, we tried some unique and fun birthday treats since we have family members and friends with birthdays in May. I tried a new and tasty Starbucks drink, and I also got a free cupcake from a local cake shop since I donated to their Kickstarter fund. Kickstarter is a company that helps businesses open and get started from collecting money from the public. When the business opens, you can usually get an item for free.

Currently Krispy Kreme has a collaboration with singer Dolly Parton. There are four doughnuts in her Southern Sweet Doughnut Collection and I tried two. I had the Dolly Dazzler and the Banana Puddin' Pie. The Dolly Dazzler is an Original Glazed with strawberry icing, with gold, pink and white glitter sprinkles and a signature chocolate Dolly butterfly piece. The Banana Puddin' is an unglazed doughnut filled with banana pudding Kreme, dipped in yellow icing, with white icing and wafer cookie pieces!

This month I also tried the new Raspberry Lemonade Refresher with Raspberry Popping Boba from Starbucks. This drink looks super sweet but tasted just about perfect. It was really refreshing and I loved the popping boba! This drink is perfect for the upcoming warm months.

Check out this bad boy of a cupcake! This Oreo Confetti Cupcake was my Kickstarter reward from Deep Sea Sugar and Salt in Georgetown. This cupcake was a hefty one and even had an Oreo inside. The frosting was really thick was not overly sweet. The cake itself was really moist and well flavored with the confetti flavor.

We celebrated a family member's birthday at The Cheesecake Factory. We never leave hungry from this place since the portions are giant and there's so many options on their menu. They also have really good cocktails. I drank a Raspberry Lemon Drop, and it was the perfect balance of sweet and sour.

For dessert we shared a piece of their new Cookie Dough Cheesecake. We loved this one!

This weekend we went to our friend's birthday party. They had a bar set up with several signature cocktails to choose from. The drink on the left had Vodka, Cointreau, raspberry syrup, and lemon juice. It tasted incredible! The drink on the right which my husband drank had Patron, pineapple juice, lime juice, Cointreau, jalapeño, tajin, and chamoy. This drink was a spicy one, but so good!

My friend got four cakes from Tous Les Jours bakery. There were a ton of people at the birthday party, so that explains all of the cakes! The slice I enjoyed was really light and spongy, and tasted like lemon. yum! I thought the pig cake was adorable!

To wrap up my May Eats and Drinks post, here is a photo of the honey bear cocktail I made. After my honey bear was almost empty, there was about one teaspoon of honey left in the bear, I made a drink in it. I made a Beary Honey Lemondrop.

I used two parts Vodka, one-part fresh squeezed lemon juice, honey syrup, and sugar water. I mixed the above in a shaker with ice and then poured the liquid into the honey bear.

To make the sugar water, I mixed 1 ounce of hot water with 3 teaspoons of white sugar. To make the honey syrup, I mixed 1 teaspoon of honey with three teaspoons of hot water. After I poured the cocktail from my shaker into the bear, I garnished the rim with a lemon slice. After my husband and I shared the bear cocktail, it was a little strong from the Vodka, I washed out my bear container so I can use it again for something else! Re-usable and beary adorable!

On the last day of May, I tried another unique and fun drink. At BJ's Restaurants and Brewhouse at Westfield Southcenter, they currently have a cocktail called a Sunrise in the Tropics. This drink has Tequilla, Peach Schnapps, Cointreau, Monin Blackberry, orange, pineapple, lime juice, and fresh orange. There was also a huge piece of pineapple and a candy shark. This drink was so tasty and tasted like summer in the tropics!

After dining at BJ's, we went inside the mall and bought our tickets to see the new Garfield movie at AMC. The movie was really fun and had us laughing quite a bit! While we enjoyed the movie we snacked on some gourmet popcorn. They sell cheese and caramel popcorn now and it tastes just like Chicago style popcorn. The popcorn was even warm, and it was so good!

Thanks for reading and checking out some of the fun and unique eats and drinks I had this month!
