Happy Hour and Dessert in Capitol Hill

Happy Hour Street Tacos with Carne Asada and a Miami Vice from Poquitos.  Poquitos is located in Capitol Hill and they're serving up authentic Mexican cuisine and cocktails. Their happy hour deal is a good one- during Ocho hour, everything on the happy hour menu is just $8! I went with a Miami Vice, a classic Pina Colada with Strawberry. This blended cocktail was so fruity and delicious. To eat I had two Carne Asada Street Tacos and a Birria Poquitos Burrito. The Burrito was small and served with a side of Consommé sauce. Both food items were tasty and satisfying.  My husband also had some Street Tacos and a Margarita from the happy hour menu. My sons had a Cheese Quesadilla and beans and rice. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I first visited Poquitos in 2012, also for happy hour, and I remembered liking it then, too. It was time for a meal there again.  For dessert, we walked about ten minutes west to  Voodoo Doughnut . The Seattle location opened late last ye...

Trying the new Soft Serve at Frankie and Jo's

Frankie and Jo's is a Seattle ice cream shop specializing in plant-based treats. Their ice cream is vegan and gluten free, even the waffle cones. And starting this month on August 1st, they added soft serve to their menu. The soft serve comes in one flavor, Vanilla Sun Soft Serve. You can then add toppings, or even make it into a sundae.

Their Ballard location is the only location offering this currently. This was our first time to this location. They have a sunny plant-filled patio in the back where you can enjoy your ice cream. And they even had a kid's area with a mini kitchen.

My boys each chose some soft serve in a waffle cone with some Supercookie Dough sprinkled on top. I selected a cup of soft serve with Brownie Gems on mine. The servings felt big, so we were full and satisfied by the time we left the shop. I wish they had kid's soft serve sizes. It's cool to see Seattle getting so many soft serve ice cream choices. We love to see it!
