Exploring the Anaheim Packing House
On the last day of our CA trip, we had planned to go to LA and visit Santa Monica. Unfortunately, the weather at the beach wasn't great and there were still flood warnings. Our flight wasn't until that evening, so there was still fun to be had. We decided to check out of our hotel and then stay in Anaheim and go to the Anaheim Packing House.
The Anaheim Packing House is a 42,000 square foot gourmet food hall in downtown. It's the last remaining citrus packing plant in Orange County and has been historically preserved and retrofitted as a great American market hall. We weren't sure what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised to see this large, bright, two-story hall, bursting with vendors and dining options. It was lunchtime, and Mexican sounded good, so we grabbed a table at Urbana Mexican Gastronomy.
This dark, yet inviting and lively restaurant serves Farm Fresh Mexican inspired plates. I started with a Strawberry Margarita that was served on the rocks and garnished with a pretty flower. To eat, I had two street tacos, one Carnitas and one Arrachera Steak. Both tacos were super fresh and made my mouth water. The Carnitas taco was really, really spicy, which I wasn't expecting. My sons shared a kid's Quesadilla and my husband enjoyed some Enchiladas with a Mole sauce.
Then it was time for some coffee! We went upstairs to Mini Monster Cafe. There was a line, meaning the drinks must be good. They serve boba, coffee, matcha, and milk tea. We chose an Iced Thai Latte with cotton candy on top. My sons were quick to devour the cotton candy. My husband and I shared the drink. It was a little too sweet for a Thai drink, but it tasted refreshing.
There's also some cool photo spots in the building. Check out the colorful lanterns and take a seat by the CA oranges.
If you're in the area and hungry, I'd recommend visiting the Anaheim Packing House and getting your grub on at these local eateries!
